AIdan Short Earns his PEWe’re proud to announce that Aidan Short has earned his Professional Engineering (PE) License in New Hampshire! Aidan has been a valued member of our team for the past six years and continues to bring dedication and technical skill to our wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects.

Aidan is an environmental engineer based out of our Portsmouth office with experience in wastewater and stormwater projects, including collection and treatment analysis and design, with a focus on hydraulics, hydrology, and resiliency. He has contributed to a wide variety of projects for municipal and state clients across New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, with a focus on improving wastewater and stormwater infrastructure reliability. Aidan is proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, EPANET, and GIS tools, and he regularly collaborates with cross-disciplinary teams to develop practical, forward-thinking solutions.

Aidan earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and joined our team shortly after graduation. His strong analytical background and thoughtful approach to engineering challenges have made him a go-to resource for complex hydraulics and hydrology analyses.

Though the PE designation at the end of an engineer’s name may seem like a small abbreviation to add, it has to be earned through years of hard work. Not only does a PE-hopeful have to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited school, but they also have to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam to become an Engineer in Training (EIT or EI, depending on the state). Then, the EIT must work for four years under one or more Professional Engineers in the field. After successfully meeting these requirements, the EIT can apply to take the PE exam, and if they pass, the PE designation lets them sign and seal engineering plans and reports.

All of the hard work that goes into becoming a PE deserves recognition! Please join us in congratulating Aidan on this achievement!
