What drew you to Hoyle Tanner? |
| Honestly, it was Allyson Kitchen’s fault 🙂 She told me Concord needed survey help for 3-4 weeks in the winter, and I pounced on the opportunity to work between semesters. I am glad it has evolved into a full-time summer position. Currently, it is Hoyle Tanner’s diversity of disciplines that makes me want to stay – and learn all the skills! |
What’s your favorite part of the company culture or something invaluable you’ve learned here? |
| I have some CAD and drafting skills from school but using these skills on actual jobs has enabled me to learn so much more and dive deeper into the art of computer design and plan development. |
What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a colleague or what’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received? |
| My whole life, my mentors have told me, “Five minutes early is on time; on time is late; and five minutes late is unacceptable.” It may not be the best piece of professional advice in the world, but punctuality to me reveals that one cares, that they respect others’ time, and are reliable and organized. |
What’s the best thing that’s happened to you recently (this week, this month, this year)? |
| I took the Fundamentals of Engineering exam on the 10th and passed! |
Outside of the Office
What did you want to be when you were growing up? |
| A Lego designer, professional soccer player, or touring musician. Depended on the day. |
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? |
| Salad. There are so many different kinds of salads that it would seem like I have a variety. Plus, it’s healthy! |
What is one thing still left on your bucket list? |
| I have so many, but the one that comes to mind is to hike the Grand Canyon. |
What is a fun or interesting fact about your hometown? |
| Troy, NY is the birthplace of Uncle Sam. It happened in 1812 when Samuel Wilson was shipping beer barrels labeled “U.S.” and some jolly soldiers jokingly said it stood for “Uncle Sam.” |
