This multi-phased project improved the efficiency, utility, and expected lifespan of two airport hangars. Specific tasks during the first phase included removing and replacing the north facing full size sectional door in Hangar 4 with an insulated wall and a more appropriately sized 48’-wide by 16’-high bi-fold hangar door with compliant exit personnel doors. The south facing Hangar 4 door upgrades focused on mechanical improvements. In Hangar 4, efficient LED controls and exit path emergency lighting were installed and the floor was resurfaced with a high gloss reflective paint product to improve the reflectivity of the new LED lights for a more efficient workspace.
In Hangar 5, four of the seven bays installed LED work and emergency exit lights were installed to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency. Two drafty sliding vehicle doors were replaced with standard overhead garage doors with built-in exit doors. The main hangar doors now have additional insulation, weather stripping, and sheet metal repairs completed to reduce energy consumption. The main personnel exit doors were changed from sliding doors to crash bar equipped exit doors.
