Meet Jacobo Forero — AI/ML Software Engineering Intern & Aspiring Professional Pickleball Player
What drew you to Hoyle Tanner?
Two things drew me to Hoyle Tanner. First, I saw a YouTube video featuring CEO Chris Mulleavey, where he shared that employees are the company’s top priority and that decisions are always made through the lens of what benefits them. That stood out to me, and I wanted to be part of a company with leadership and values like that. Second, Hoyle Tanner contributes to building and improving American infrastructure, which I see as one of the most important missions of our time. I wanted to be a part of it.
What’s your favorite part of the company culture?
My favorite part of the company culture is that employees are truly valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a colleague or what’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
Working with CTO Joshua Sklarsky has taught me that there is always more to learn. It has reinforced the importance of staying curious, continuing to grow, and never stopping the process of learning and evolving professionally.
What’s one thing you wish people knew about your job?
I wish people knew how rewarding it is to work directly with colleagues, understand the challenges they’re facing, and help create solutions that make their work easier.
What did you want to be when you were growing up / how did you get to be on the path you’re on?
I have been interested in technology since I was very young, around fifth grade. I always knew I wanted to use technology to build cool things, solve problems, and make a positive impact. That interest naturally led me to the path I’m on today.
