What drew you to Hoyle Tanner?
Having done work in NH for the past 20 years, Hoyle Tanner’s name and reputation is well known and respected. That coupled with the variety of projects and clients made the option of working here very appealing.
What’s your favorite part of the company culture?
While I am still meeting people, there is a definite connection between staff of all levels and management that make iteractions personal and not just a work discussion.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a colleague or what’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
Judge people by their intentions and not the outcome of their actions. Everyone makes mistakes and it is always ok to work with someone to make corrections and learn. If they try and have good intentions then you know they are good people.
What’s one thing you wish people knew about your job?
No project is the same. While being an engineer, one would think that every project is straightforward. However, you find that the engineering behind a project is usually the easy part. Public wants and perception, client priorities, changing attitudes towards acceptable solutions, and on and on, make each project a new adventure.
What did you want to be when you were growing up / how did you get to be on the path you’re on?
When I grow up, I can answer this question! Right now it changes monthly and sometimes daily. Just enjoying the trip along the way… not sure who said this, but life is a journey, not a destination.
