The existing 1940s concrete and asphalt ramp area was experiencing severe cracking and spalling. In several areas the existing concrete had settled, and the slabs were protruding above the adjacent slabs creating an uneven surface for taxiing aircraft.
The reconstruction project included demolishing the existing ramp and preparing two bid alternatives for both an asphalt and concrete apron. Following evaluation of bid results and available funding, the concrete option was selected and awarded to the low bidder. A new trench drainpipe system was also included in the design to collect and convey any stormwater.
