We are excited to announce that Environmental Scientist Joanne Theriault has been certified as a Level 1 Wildlife Tracker according to the standards set by CyberTracker Conservation, enhancing our wildlife services and our team.
To become certified, applicants must take a practical field exam during which they interpret tracks and signs assigned in the field by a qualified instructor. Answers are continuously explained during the exam, creating both an evaluation and a valuable learning experience. A percentage score is calculated at the conclusion of the exam with weighted points awarded and deducted for each question based on its difficulty. Joanne’s exam score earned her a Level 1 CyberTracker Certificate, and she will have the opportunity to continue her tracking education and earn successive certifications such as CyberTracker Levels 2-3 and Professional Tracker.
We are proud of Joanne’s accomplishments. This certification follows her approval as an Associate Wildlife Biologist in 2022. Joanne also became a New Hampshire Certified Wetland Scientist in 2020. These achievements and her more than 14 years of experience in the environmental consulting field have prepared her to provide the following services to our clients: wildlife habitat assessments, state- and federally-listed wildlife surveys, vernal pool surveys, wildlife consultations for potential project impacts, and wetland delineation and evaluation services.
Joanne’s foundation in environmental science began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northeastern University and was further strengthened by a Master of Science in Natural Resources, with a concentration in Wildlife Biology, from the University of New Hampshire. Her master’s thesis focused on the breeding habits of vernal pool amphibians, their interaction with vernal pool aquatic insects, and how adjacent forestry impacts these complex relationships.
We can’t wait to see what Joanne does next; please join us in congratulating her on another achievement!
