The intersection of wildlife habitat connectivity and transportation is receiving growing national attention as the impacts of wildlife–vehicle collisions on public safety, ecosystems, and the economy become increasingly well documented.
Our Wildlife and Wetlands technical experts, Melinda Squillace, CWB® and Joanne Theriault, CWS, AWB®, recently helped form a new Transportation Ecology Working Group within The Wildlife Society. The group brings together professionals from across the country to elevate discussion around wildlife connectivity, transportation planning, and policy.
This upcoming webinar on 1/29—led by Dr. Patricia Cramer of the Wildlife Connectivity Institute, a nationally recognized leader in wildlife crossings—will provide a high-level look at current developments across the U.S., emerging best practices, and relevant funding updates for 2026. Members of the Working Group will also be on hand to contribute to the conversation.
The webinar coincides with a Special Focus Issue of The Wildlife Professional to be published this spring, which will include a co-authored article by our own Joanne on amphibians and road crossings.
