With 27 years at Hoyle Tanner, Suzy Sheppard has recently been appointed to the Maine Aeronautical Advisory Board (MAAB) for a two-year term. Suzy is a licensed professional engineer in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. She has been serving airports throughout New England managing projects that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

With only six commercial airports in the state, Maine’s 69 public-use, General Aviation airports are vital in connecting small communities throughout the state with essential services – including law enforcement, emergency medical flights, cargo delivery, and small business transportation. In addition, more than 130,000 visitors arrive in Maine every year on General Aviation aircraft. The continued growth and sustainability of Maine’s General Aviation system requires dedicated management and planning. The purpose and duty of MAAB is to actively advise the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) on all matters related to aeronautics, including recommended changes to state statute. In order to be considered for a seat on the Maine Aeronautical Advisory Board you must submit a current resume and letter of interest to MaineDOT. Appointments to the board are made by the Commissioner of the Department.

Suzy grew up in Vermont and earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. In her spare time when she is not out hiking on a trail somewhere with her beloved dog Echo, Suzy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys her annual vacations to her favorite place on earth – Monhegan Island, Maine.

Congratulations Suzy, on this is well deserved appointment! Maine is lucky to tap into your knowledge and perspective of the aeronautics industry.
