Airport Infrastructure OTTED Grant Funding Assistance

Project Summary
Hoyle Tanner assisted the City of Lake Wales in applying for an Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development (OTTED) grant. The City was awarded $4.5 million, of which $3 million was used to construct a new FBO building and T-hangars; and to complete the environmental analysis, design, wetland mitigation, 60-acre property acquisition, and tree clearing for the runway extension project. The new 16,500 square foot FBO building is home to the world-famous Florida Skydiving Center. The remainder of the OTTED grant covered the cost of a new fire suppression tank which is considered a satellite system separate from the City’s three water plants. The new fire suppression tank serves as a suppression system for both the Lake Wales Municipal Airport and the National Guard Armory.
