College Road Improvements
Due to aging infrastructure and increased demand, the University System of New Hampshire needed to upgrade the existing 10-inch ductile iron water main in both College Road and Library Way. Hoyle Tanner provided design services through construction documents and technical specifications for 1,100 feet of new 12-inch water main and pavement resurfacing. The project included site improvements such as a new ADA compliant bus pullout, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and drainage modifications, promoting safer pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
The project also included design of new sidewalks on Great Lawn and in front of Nesmith Hall which experience high pedestrian volumes when classes are in session at the University. Portions of the sidewalk on College Road also function as the top of the existing steam tunnel. One-way traffic was maintained on College Road for the duration of the project. Construction was completed on-schedule and on budget.
