Baxter Boulevard Pump Station Upgrades
Project Summary
The Portland Water District (PWD) selected Hoyle Tanner to perform a study to identify deficiencies in the existing Baxter Boulevard Pump Station, one of PWDs major pump stations in the City of Portland. The PWD wanted to maintain as much of the existing pump station equipment and structures as possible resulting in a targeted equipment replacement project.
Following acceptance of the report and its findings the Hoyle Tanner team prepared design documents for bidding by PWD. The project is currently under construction and includes replacement of the main power transformer and electrical service, generator and fuel tank, motor control center, instrumentation equipment, pump controls, pump impellers and seals, isolation gates, replacement and reconfiguration of pipe and fittings in the wet well and dry pit to improve pump efficiency, and concrete repair.
During construction a section of force main outside the station failed causing PWD to make emergency repairs. An alternatives analysis was presented for force main replacement with the PWD ultimately deciding to replace the entire 1000lf with new 12” ductile iron pipe.
