Last year, Hoyle Tanner reorganized our transportation groups for improved and expanded project delivery services. Our Bridge and Structures Group and our Transportation Services Group merged into the new Ground Transportation Division (GTD). The reorganization has allowed us to consolidate our focus on our clients’ needs, create project delivery efficiencies, facilitate designs for larger, more complex projects and create growth opportunities for our team members.

In the last year, we have expanded our team of bridge and highway engineers, as well as permitting specialists, to include over 40 professionals. We have added 10 new employees to GTD, including one engineer who interned with us in 2018. In total, we have welcomed two Senior Project Engineers, six Engineers, one CADD Designer, and one Intern. Our new team members bring additional skills and capacity to meet the needs of our busy clients who strive to deliver more projects with less resources.

Our team is testament to the passion and dedication we bring to our projects and clients. In the past year, we have been selected and reselected for new multi-year retainer engineering services contracts for Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts departments of transportation. We have also been selected for a new bridge load rating contract for MassDOT, as well as dozens of new municipal transportation projects. One project to note is the continuation of the Kingsley Covered Bridge Rehabilitation for the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Starting in 2020, we worked on the inspection and design of the historic bridge, and have been selected to finish the project through construction engineering support.

The group merger has allowed our new Division to significantly increase its focus and facilitate agile decision-making to benefit our clients. It has allowed us the ability to cross-train our team members allowing for consistent coaching, training, and mentoring to create increased team depth. We are still looking to add more traffic, roadway and bridge professionals to our growing team. Check out our careers page to see what’s available and apply for a position. Reach out to me, Senior Vice President and division manager Sean James, PE if you have any questions or if we can assist with your transportation project!
