Meet Christyn Bergquist, Project Assistant & Curator of Good Vibes
What drew you to Hoyle Tanner?
What first drew me to Hoyle Tanner was its presence in the community where I live and where my kids go to school. It felt meaningful (and honestly, convenient) to work somewhere that made me feel like I was truly part of my own community. I also had a former employee recommend the job to me, and the way he spoke about the company and the people he worked with, many of whom are still here more than ten years later, really stood out.
During my interview, we laughed β a lot! That felt like a very good sign. Add to that the flexibility of the role and the opportunity to work in aviation, a field I was I truly intrigued by (and now fully enjoy) and it quickly felt like the right fit.
Whatβs your favorite part of the company culture?
My favorite part of the culture is feeling genuinely valued, not just for the skills tied directly to my job description, but for everything I bring to the table. Iβm encouraged to speak up, share ideas, and offer suggestions across different areas, which makes the work feel collaborative and engaging. Itβs a place where your voice matters, and that makes a huge difference.
Whatβs a lesson youβve learned from a colleague or whatβs the best piece of professional advice youβve ever received?
One of the most meaningful lessons Iβve received came in the form of a plaque that was given to me by a team I supervised: βIt is a rare person who can take care of hearts while taking care of business.β
That sentiment has really stayed with me. Iβve tried to carry it into every aspect of my work, reminding myself that empathy/care/kindness and professionalism donβt have to be at oddsβand that the best outcomes usually come when both are present.
Whatβs one thing you wish people knew about your job?
I wish people knew just how different every day and every project can be. No two clients or situations are ever the same, and each one brings its own needs, challenges, and goals. That variety keeps the work interesting and ensures thereβs always something new to learn. It also means I ask A LOT of questions!
What did you want to be when you were growing up / how did you get to be on the path youβre on?
I first wanted to be an astronaut, until my dad teasingly told me Iβd have to shave my head, which pretty much ended that dream. After that, I wanted to be a teacher, a path I was lucky enough to follow for many years while teaching at several universities across New England.
My career path hasnβt been a straight line, but itβs been a fulfilling one. Iβve taken some chances along the way, this role included, and those leaps have consistently led me to where I belong. Looking back, Iβm grateful for the winding road and where itβs brought me.
