Airport Terminal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Funding Assistance
Project Summary
The Flagler Executive Airport (FIN) has experienced growth that has led to a need for a new general aviation terminal building. The existing 3,240 SF facility is over 30 years old and is currently located in a lean-to and is inadequately sized to accommodate airport administration and FBO personnel, pilots, and the public.
The new 15,529 SF terminal building is designed to accommodate airport administrative offices, an airport operated FBO and its associated facilities, public and meeting spaces, and room for additional small tenants. The terminal will allow the airport to improve customer service and public access and provide an overall safer operating environment for the public. Shifting the location adjacent to its current location will allow a more centralized control between the landside and airside areas. In addition, the facility is designed to maximize natural resource and provide energy efficiency upgrades to the HVAC systems.
Flagler County meets criteria for the Rural Economic Development Initiative which was established to better serve Florida’s economically distressed rural communities. The facility will increase airport development which will lead to new business opportunities and job creation resulting in a more resilient economy. Having new space for several small tenants will encourage more businesses to operate at the airport.
Recognizing the funding challenges this $10M project has by being self-funded, our team assisted the airport in completing the funding application for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) grant seeking $8.5M with the remaining $1.5M as a match.
