Little River Bridge Replacement
Maine Department of Transportation
Little River Bridge Replacement
This bridge project for the Maine Department of Transportation replaced a 100’ riveted steel through plate girder with a 135’ span weathering steel plate girder supported on integral abutments. The new bridge featured a wider roadway and roadside safety enhancements to accommodate the traffic volumes and design speed of the corridor. Approximately 650′ of approach roadway reconstruction with a 4’ raise in the profile grade was also included to improve hydraulic clearance at the Little River and to accommodate the temporary detour alignment and bridge located along the downstream side. Hoyle Tanner provided preliminary and final engineering services for the bridge and roadway elements of this project and completed a two-dimensional hydraulic analysis of the Little River.
