Bradley International Airport

This work represents an important step in improving airfield operations and long-term efficiency at the airport.

Our team is providing design and permitting services for new pavement, lighting, and drainage infrastructure needed to support the safe and efficient movement of aircraft. Throughout design, Hoyle Tanner is working closely with CAA, airport stakeholders, and Connecticut permitting agencies to ensure the project meets FAA standards while also navigating environmental permitting requirements related to wetlands, stormwater, and other sensitive natural resources.

Since 2014, Hoyle Tanner has partnered with CAA on many airfield infrastructure improvement projects at Bradley International Airport, as well as all of the CAA General Aviation airports. Our design and planning services have ranged from pavement rehabilitation, airfield reconfiguration, airspace analysis, avigation easement acquisitions, obstruction removal, stormwater drainage studies and rehabilitation projects, pavement condition studies, and many environmental studies and permit applications.

Project Background & Planning

Taxiway T was identified in the Airport Master Plan as a needed improvement to reduce airfield congestion and improve aircraft circulation, particularly during peak travel periods. The new taxiway provides a more direct route between runways and terminal areas, helping aircraft move more efficiently across the airfield.

As part of the planning effort, Hoyle Tanner is evaluating existing airfield conditions, analyzing aircraft movement patterns, and working with airport leadership and environmental permitting agencies to identify challenges, solutions, and an ultimate layout that will support both current demand and future growth. Our team is currently providing permitting and design services, including airfield layout analysis, coordination with regulatory agencies, and development of concepts that meet FAA safety and design requirements.

Project Benefits

Once complete, Taxiway T will improve airfield safety, reduce delays, and enhance operational efficiency for airlines. These improvements also contribute to a smoother travel experience for passengers by supporting increased reliability for on-time departures and arrivals, while positioning Bradley International Airport to meet future operational needs.
