What drew you to Hoyle Tanner?
As a student who hasn’t decided on a career path, I value the different divisions that Hoyle Tanner has to offer. I figured if Aviation wasn’t for me, I could still be with a company that has a wealth of knowledge and experiences related to other civil engineering disciplines.
What’s your favorite part of the company culture?
I really appreciate how people have gone out of their way to be inclusive in both work and social settings. I am one of two Aviation team members located in Burlington, and the rest of the Aviation team has been so receptive to setting up calls, inviting me to meetings, providing me with work, and most importantly giving their time and feedback. It’s clear that every team member, from staff engineers to division managers, values my time and puts effort into my development as an engineer.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned from a colleague or what’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
I received a compliment during my time here about asking great questions and that has motivated me to continue the habit – you may very be interested in a topic, but if you don’t ask questions to show your curiosity, you may miss out on an opportunity to learn more!
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was really little, I wanted to be a “pool cleaner”. Basically the person with the net on the stick. I did get to achieve this dream as a lifeguard but those days are behind me! I didn’t even consider engineering until college but my experience has been amazing!
