Kearsarge Way & Market Street Bridges
Project Summary
Hoyle Tanner provided design, bid, and construction phase engineering services for a bundled bridge repair/rehabilitation project that focused on expansion joint replacement for the Market Street bridges, and on deck repair for the Kearsarge Way Bridge. During construction, Hoyle Tanner provided similar construction engineering services to those required by the NHDOT LPA program including shop drawing review, construction observation, and administration of material testing.
Prior to construction, Hoyle Tanner assisted the City in developing an alternative bidding process that minimized public contact due to the project being bid during the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hoyle Tanner also led pre-construction notification efforts by drafting press releases and preparing and delivering a pre-recorded public information presentation (necessary in lieu of an in-person presentation due to the pandemic).
Hoyle Tanner developed vehicle and pedestrian traffic control plans for both locations and assisted the contractor with implementation, including assisting with calibration of the three-phase temporary single system for the single lane alternating traffic pattern at Kearsarge Way. Hoyle Tanner coordinated construction at Market Street with the adjacent Market Street Gateway Project, which was being completed by another contractor. Final paving operations were coordinated to be completed after the Market Street Bridge project was completed.
