Newly Elected Senior Vice President:
Nils Gonzalez, PE – Principal Airport Engineer
With over 30 years of experience, Nils has become a trusted leader in airport design and construction, managing projects that range from obstruction removal and fencing to complex, multimillion-dollar runway and taxiway improvements. Known for his detail-oriented approach and problem-solving mindset, he is the go-to resource for technical guidance within our aviation team. His ability to lead projects with minimal disruption to airport operations speaks to his deep understanding of airfield safety and efficiency. Beyond the job site, Nils exemplifies professional leadership through his involvement with industry organizations including ASCE, ACC, and AAAE.

Newly Elected Vice Presidents:
Owen Krauss, PE – Senior Structural Engineer
With over 12 years of experience, Owen has built a strong reputation in bridge design, inspection, construction engineering, and project management. A proud graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering, Owen is a licensed professional engineer in both Maine and New Hampshire. His practical approach to problem-solving and his deep knowledge of structural systems make him a valuable resource to our clients and teams. Having spent his entire life in Maine, Owen brings local insight and a strong commitment to the communities he serves.

David Langlais, PE – Regional Business Manager-Massachusetts
David’s career at Hoyle Tanner began in construction engineering on large-scale highway projects across New Hampshire—an experience that laid the groundwork for his transition into project management and business development. Now a Regional Business Manager based in our Massachusetts office, David plays a key role in cultivating municipal relationships, reviewing infrastructure plans, and shaping the future of local projects across the region. His impact goes far beyond technical work: David is a driving force within our firm, contributing to the Safety and Business Development Committees. He also represents Hoyle Tanner through his leadership on the ACEC-Massachusetts Board of Directors. Known for his collaborative spirit and forward-thinking ideas, David brings energy, insight, and approachability to every conversation.

Joseph Ripley, PE – Senior Structural Engineer
Joe’s experience spans a wide range of bridge-related services, including design, inspection, load rating, shop drawing review, and construction observation for state DOTs such as NHDOT, MaineDOT, VTrans, and NYSDOT, as well as many municipal clients. His portfolio also includes the inspection and rehabilitation of specialized structures like covered bridges and parking garages, showcasing his versatility and attention to detail. Joe brings a high level of proficiency in structural analysis and design tools, including Merlin-Dash, LEAP Bridge, GROUP/L-Pile, STAAD, and MicroStation, which supports his well-rounded, efficient approach to each project. His promotion reflects a strong commitment to technical excellence and delivering lasting solutions for both clients and communities.

Catie Hall – Senior Marketing Coordinator
As a Senior Marketing Coordinator, Catie partners with project managers across disciplines—including aviation, bridge, roadway, and utilities—to craft compelling, visually engaging materials that reflect the excellence of our engineering work. Known for her sharp eye for detail and love of editing, Catie brings clarity, consistency, and polish to every proposal she touches. Her communication skills and thoughtful approach make her a valued collaborator across teams.

Paul Hobbs, PE – Senior Structural Engineer
With a Master’s in Structural Engineering and over 30 years of experience, Paul’s career has spanned the design of schools, hospitals, and water treatment facilities. In 2023, he brought that wealth of knowledge to Hoyle Tanner, shifting his focus toward environmental infrastructure and clean water initiatives. As the Design Phase Project Manager for our wastewater projects, Paul oversees site design, structures, consultants, funding, and client coordination—creating the foundation for our Environmental Engineers to focus on process design. His work today centers on extending the life of existing structures, conducting life-cycle assessments, and reducing the carbon footprint of construction materials. Paul is driven by a desire to build meaningful, lasting relationships—striving to be a trusted advisor to his clients and a true friend to his colleagues.

Kelly LaVigne, PE – Senior Structural Engineer
With more than a decade of experience, Kelly specializes in the design and development of transportation projects through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. Known for her strong project management, organizational skills, and commitment to mentoring, she consistently builds effective, cohesive teams that deliver successful outcomes. Kelly brings deep knowledge of design standards such as AASHTO LRFD, AREMA, and AISC, as well as extensive experience navigating VTrans Construction Standards and processes. Her excellence in the field was recognized in 2022 when she was honored as Vermont’s Young Engineer of the Year. Kelly’s promotion reflects her dedication to quality, collaboration, and the continued advancement of our structural engineering practice.
