Hoyle Tanner is always looking for ways to give back to our local communities, so throughout the month of May we held a Penny War to add a competitive twist to an average Food Drive. The Penny War Food Drive was held in all seven of our offices, bringing forth our team members’ competitive spirit for a great cause!

How it Functioned Across 7 Offices

We had our offices compete against each other to see who could collect the most non-perishable items and money. The rules of the Penny War state that any non-perishable items or pennies count as positive points for your respective office, and any silver coins or paper bills count as negative points against other offices. Participation began on day one as our team members began collecting their spare change and going through their cabinets for extra canned goods. Some began this challenge by getting a head start on sabotaging the other offices!

Leading the Charge

At the end of the first week our Oviedo, Florida team was off to a substantial lead, but by week two our Yarmouth, Maine office snatched the lead by more than 3,000 points. In week three, Oviedo reclaimed the lead. In the end – with our Oviedo office taking the lead for three out of the four weeks – it was no surprise they were announced as the winners on May 30th. Oviedo collected an astounding 217 non-perishable items and a total of $126.35 to be donated to their local food bank, HOPE.

The Results

Between all Hoyle Tanner offices, we collected a total of 935 non-perishable items and over $790 to be donated to food banks local to each office. Donations went to these locations:

This considerable donation demonstrates the dedication our team members have to giving back to their communities. A huge thank you to our team for participating, and we are always looking forward to the next opportunity to give back!
