Hoyle Tanner’s Ground Transportation Division is proud to partner with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) on several critical projects across the state. From Aroostook County to Yarmouth, our team is helping deliver infrastructure that strengthens safety, connectivity, resiliency, and mobility for Maine’s residents, businesses, and visitors. Through our ongoing partnership with MaineDOT, we are advancing projects from preliminary design through construction to ensure communities receive durable, cost-effective infrastructure built for the future.MaineDOT Project Map

Projects in Preliminary & Final Design

Our design teams are advancing several important projects toward construction, including:

  • Two large culvert replacements in Aroostook County
  • Bridge replacement in New Sharon
  • Bridge rehabilitation in New Sharon
  • Bridge rehabilitation in Belfast
  • Bridge replacement in Pittston
  • Bridge rehabilitation in Casco
  • Two bridge rehabilitations/replacements in Augusta
  • Bridge replacement in Yarmouth

Projects in Construction

We are also supporting MaineDOT on projects currently under construction:

  • Van Buren – Reconstruction and Rehabilitation projects along a segment of Route 1 in Van Buren. This 2.75-mile section starting in Keegan Village heading north was “unbuilt,” meaning it had not been engineered and just evolved over the years, causing this section to lack modern safety standards. The project was successful in delivering safety improvements for all, sidewalks for pedestrians, paved shoulders and pavement ride quality for vehicles, improved drainage for the environment, and habitat connectivity for animals.
  • Solon – Replacement of the Main Street Bridge over Fall Brook (US Route 201). The new 53-foot span bridge features a precast-prestressed NEXT beam superstructure and roadway profile adjustments to improve driver sight distance.
  • Falmouth (Bucknam Road Bridge over I-295) – Nearing completion, this new two-span steel bridge measures 242’ and carries three lanes with a sidewalk. The project also includes a new northbound off-ramp intersection with traffic signals to reduce congestion.
  • Falmouth (Johnson Road Bridge over I-295) – Bundled with the Bucknam Road Bridge project, this new two-span steel bridge (241’) will replace the existing overpass with two travel lanes and a sidewalk. Construction will begin following completion of the Bucknam Road Bridge.
  • Yarmouth (Cousins River Bridge on US Route 1) – This project replaces the existing concrete structure with a new 115’ span precast-prestressed Bulb-Tee bridge. Traffic is being maintained through staged construction. The project also includes bearing replacement on the I-295 Northbound bridge over the Cousins River.
