We are proud to announce another win for a Hoyle, Tanner project from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). This time from the Massachusetts chapter in the annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition. Each year, ACEC evaluates entries from engineering firms across the country on factors including innovation, complexity and value to the community. We submitted our design of the Central Campus Core Utilities, Landscaping and Accessibility Project (CCCULAP) at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst campus and are celebrating the project’s recognition as a bronze award winner!
A big factor in the recognition was the complexity of the CCCULAP due to its sheer size and the varying disciplines and specialty contractors needed to perform the work. Couple this with an active campus and it became a challenge, but also an incredible opportunity to display our team’s ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across multiple disciplines, evaluate various on-site conditions efficiently, and carry out the projected schedule and budget as anticipated. Relying on our proven expert team to deliver data-driven recommendations and designs, UMass hired Hoyle, Tanner as Prime for engineering services: schematic, preliminary/final design, and construction administration for landscaping, area lighting, electrical upgrades, steam upgrades, water upgrades, pedestrian improvements, parking garage membrane replacement and ADA accessibility review within the project area.
Senior Civil Engineer William Davidson, PE and the exceptional University staff worked closely together to understand the landscaping vision for the project and make it a success.
