The annual Massachusetts Airport Management Association (MAMA) conference returns next week after having to take a break last year due to COVID. Traditionally this conference has always been an opportunity for Massachusetts airport administrators and industry professionals to gather with FAA and MassDOT Aeronautics staff to discuss Bay State focused projects and industry developments. In response to both the professional and personal isolation many of us felt over the past 18 months, the Conference Planning Committee, led by Chairperson Jean Mongillo, chose this year’s theme as Reconnecting the Region. In keeping with that collaborative theme, the conference invitation was extended to airports throughout New England. The Conference Committee specifically chose session topics with a more regional appeal including:

  • How to Legally Handle Wildlife at Airports
  • Airport Sustainability Initiatives
  • STEM Education: Educating the Next Generation
  • Procurement Compliance
  • Airport Manager Continuing Education and Media Relations
  • Current Aviation Legal Topics
  • Dilemmas in the Industry
  • FAA and MassDOT Aeronautics Updates

Some of the conference speakers include:

Timothy Obitts, President and CEO of National Air Transportation Association (NATA), will discuss sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), what’s affordable and readily available, incentivizing investments in alternate energy sources (like solar), and helping airports and aviation businesses plan a reduced carbon footprint.

Noah Karburg (ACK Assistant Airport Manager) will share his insight on the professional certification process for airport managers and Tom Zuppa (John Guilfoil Public Relations LLC), will provide airport managers and commissioners with suggestions how to navigate  media relations either to promote a positive the airport or in response to a  crisis

We are excited to share that Hoyle Tanner will have a booth at this engaging conference and look forward to connecting with all aviation professionals. See you on October 25th!
